Power Quality of an electrical installation is defined by the degree of the waveform deviation Volt, Ampere, and Frequency (Hz from the corresponding established limits of the "net" sinusoidal variation of the power supply network because of the interaction between this network and the electromechanical equipment of the plant.

 

Electrical phenomena that indicate poor Power Quality in an electrical installation is the occurrence of high frequency electrical noise (high levels of Harmonic Voltage and / or Power Distortion), impulse and transient over voltages / asymmetry of phases etc. Such phenomena can cause malfunctions in the orderly operation of the installation even temporary or permanent electromechanical equipment disasters (PLC cards, power supplies, compensation capacitors, etc.).

 

In order to encount with poor quality electrical power, systems must be established, properly dimensioned "custom made" for each application.

 

 

  • P.Q.O.S. are in general, integrated filter systems, consisting of multi-stage LC circuits (L = coil C = capacitor) or LCR (L = coil C = capacitor R = resistance).
  • P.Q.O.S. systems during their operation, use the most advanced technology speed control of electrical parameters such as: Voltage, Current, Harmonics, and Power Factor.
  • Based on the preconfigured parameters, unique to each application, the controllers, activate the appropriate internal steps with "Logical Programmed Scale" response, until the preset values are reached.

Leakage currents decrease over earth with special filters

REDEX is specialized in exploring and promoting solutions to the problem of the correct choice and installation of leakage switches (RCDs) for protection against electric shock and fire (according to HD 384 standard) in building and industrial installations.

 

As it is known, since 2006 it is now mandatory for ALL the electrical panels of ALL facilities (building, industrial, etc.) to have adequate leakage switches installed for the protection against electric shock (set to 30mA) and against fire protection for fire protection (set to 300mA).

 

As it is also known, the installation of leakage switches in motion panels and particular in motion panels that feed Three phase inverters or soft starters are almost impossible. The problem is that the leakage switches in such Drive circuits, are immediately activated (trip) at 30mA yet and without apparent leakage (e.g. insulation resistors within limits, etc.).

 

The aftereffect of this problem is to set the leakage switch at max slew-rates (e.g. 500mA) to avoid continuous activations with the result that such relevant protection is NOT provided by the HD384 standard so the specified limits are not met.

 

Redex performs specialized electrical measurements by analyzing the leakage currents and offers custom made solutions with special reduction filters of leakage currents over earth, in order this installation to provide the necessary security and at the same time not to create any kind of problem in the operation of it.

Energy Study Elaboration

REDEX`s Energy Services department is carrying out an analytical energy study by conducting specialized measurements & investigating - processing information of customer’s installation.
Analytically:

  • We perform electrical measurements for a couple of days while inspecting and collecting data of the electrical installation.
  • We evaluate the profile of the electric charge in relation to the electricity bills of the last 12 months and the historic data of client’s installation.
